PLEASANTON, Calif. — Hacienda Helping Hands, Hacienda's community engagement initiative, is challenging businesses to make a difference in the region through participation in its annual fundraising campaign. Hacienda's owners, investors, businesses and other affiliates are joining in local efforts to address critical needs in the Tri-Valley. 2020 has witnessed an unprecedented demand on local organizations that perform the truly invaluable services to those in need. The Hacienda Helping Hands campaign is asking that everyone lend a hand in support of these social profit endeavors.
As so often happens in the Tri-Valley, when needs arise, the community finds a way to make sure they are addressed. A new initiative, the Tri-Valley Nonprofit Fund created by the Tri-Valley Nonprofit Alliance, was commenced this year as a rallying effort to provide financial support where it is needed most. In consultation with regional cities, community leaders, and "211", the regional coordinating agency for Alameda County, the Tri-Valley Nonprofit Alliance identified the following beneficiaries to launch the Tri-Valley Nonprofit Fund: Axis Community Health; CityServe of the Tri-Valley; Open Heart Kitchen; Senior Support Services of the Tri-Valley; "Meals on Wheels" operated by Spectrum Community Services; and Tri-Valley Haven.
In just a few short months since its inception, the Tri-Valley Nonprofit Fund has distributed $20,000.00 to each of the recipient organizations. However, all of these beneficiaries are in need of additional funding to help them fulfill their missions in the region; particularly given the large increases in demand for their services. To make sure that each resource provided is leveraged to its fullest, in creating the fund, the Tri-Valley Nonprofit Alliance has also created a unique opportunity to match donations so that each dollar received is doubled in value.
The goal of Hacienda Helping Hands is to help those aligned with its support of six key philanthropic areas: youth development and education, family strengthening, senior assistance, access to healthcare and healthy living, affordable housing and solutions to homelessness, and arts and culture. For over a decade, Hacienda Helping Hands has been able to distribute thousands of dollars to those committed to these causes. In this year, where collective effort can truly make a difference,
Hacienda Helping Hands is challenging the community to help through their support of the Tri-Valley Nonprofit Fund in whatever way is possible. Donations can be made both through the Tri-Valley Nonprofit Alliance (TVNPA) and through the Community Health & Education Foundation (CHEF) at the following locations:
Tri-Valley Nonprofit Alliance (TVNPA): tvnpa.org/tvnf*
Community Health & Education Foundation (CHEF): chefgivingcommunity.org/tvnf*
* Both TVNPA and CHEF are 501c(3) nonprofit organizations and all donations to these organizations are tax deductible to the full extent allowed by applicable laws.
“Hacienda is excited to support this new, innovative effort that Tri-Valley Nonprofit Alliance has started,” said James Paxson, Hacienda's General Manager. "We were pleased to be able to provide financial support to the Fund earlier this year and are working with everyone at Hacienda to see what can be done to continue that support. While the Tri-Valley Nonprofit Fund is an important response to community needs exacerbated by the pandemic, it is the type of initiative that we believe will have value both now and in the future. The goal of Hacienda Helping Hands is to make a difference by supporting organizations that are addressing important community needs. We feel that we can increase the effectiveness of our campaign by bringing our resources to this effort and hope others will find similar value in lending their support."
Hacienda has seen many of its investors and businesses offer their helping hands in community giving over the years. Companies such as Kaiser Permanente, Chamberlin Associates, Oracle, Roche Molecular Systems, 1st United Credit Union, Ellis Partners LLC, Colliers International and many more have been instrumental in making its past work a success and have helped its campaign to make substantive contributions to the Tri-Valley. The alliance formed between Hacienda's owners, investors, businesses and affiliates has been a powerful way of making a real difference. That difference directly translates into the vibrant quality of life that makes the Tri-Valley so attractive as a place to live and work.
Hacienda is the largest development of its kind in Northern California. Over 10 million square feet of existing, mixed-use space is occupied by some 675 companies that locally employ nearly 20,000 people. Hacienda’s businesses represent the best and the brightest of contemporary corporate America and provide the home to everything from small offices to regional centers to large campuses for company headquarters. In addition, Hacienda also features homes to approximately 6,000 residents. Residential developments also provide a full spectrum of choices from stylish rental units to single family detached homes.
The Tri-Valley Nonprofit Alliance offers regular opportunities to meet and collaborate with peers to enhance and grow the skills and talents of the dedicated people who work and volunteer in the nonprofit sector. Organizations share their challenges and successes, announce jobs and employment openings, and notify each other of upcoming volunteer experiences and events. The Tri-Valley Nonprofit Alliance provides nonprofit organizations with industry-relevant seminars, collaborative discussions and alliance networking at monthly meetings and organized events. In response to an overwhelming outpouring of community support to help those whose well-being has been jeopardized due to the pandemic, the Tri-Valley Nonprofit Fund was founded by the Tri-Valley Nonprofit Alliance in March 2020. Just a few short months beforehand, the economic fallout of the Covid-19 virus was already stretching the resources of many nonprofit organizations in the Tri-Valley beyond their usual capacity. Donations to the Tri-Valley Fund will now provide direct support these organizations: Axis Community Health, CityServe of the Tri-Valley, Open Heart Kitchen, Senior Support of the Tri-Valley, Spectrum Community Services and Tri-Valley Haven. Community Health & Education Foundation (CHEF) also stepped in, acting as the fund’s Donation Management Partner. CHEF manages the online donation infrastructure and has generously waived all costs associated with that role. Additionally, CHEF has seeded the matching funds program with $20,000.
